About the Conference
Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages is organizing a 2-day regional conference, under the auspices of H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States and H.E. Ghada Wali, Minister of Social Solidarity in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The conference aims at advancing aftercare mechanisms in the Arab region through sharing experiences and shedding light on best practices promoting care leavers’ inclusion into society and their independence.
A diverse group of dignitaries and experts in the field of children without parental care will participate to share their experiences and proposed solutions to the challenges facing youth in leaving care as well as explore potential partnerships and synergies.
The participation of care leavers is a key component across the two-day conference to enable them share their opinions, their personal experiences and challenges and help establish a sustainable aftercare system.
Wataneya Society for the Development of Orphanages is a registered Egyptian non-profit organization that aims to “Create a future of equal opportunities for children and youth without parental care” through providing institutional development services for child care homes and capacity building programs for orphaned youth and their caregivers.
Since 2008, Wataneya has introduced various innovative solutions based on a transformational approach to reform the orphanage care sector in Egypt and ensure a better future for children and youth raised in institutional homes.
